OPTx

OPTx was a platform built at ComResource as a more user-friendly interface on top of IBM Sterling File Gateway, simplifying B2B file transfer and migration management for clients across various industries and use cases, covering partner and route configuration, protocol setup, credential storage, role-based access control, audit trail tracking, and publishing workflows that would otherwise require direct interaction with Sterling's considerably less approachable native interface.

I inherited OPTx from the prior engineer and took full ownership of the frontend web application side of the platform, built on the legacy Dojo JavaScript framework with a Java backend, handling new features, UI updates, and ongoing maintenance. What made this project different from most inherited codebases was that I had previously worked on the migrations team at ComResource using OPTx to implement Sterling for major financial institutions. Coming to it as a developer having already used it as an end user gave me a clearer picture of where it worked well and where it got in its own way than I would have had starting cold.

I later built a proof of concept in React using Material-UI and pushed internally to rebuild the platform on a more modern stack. The timing wasn't right, billable client projects held priority, but the proposal eventually contributed to the decision to rebuild OPTx in React, which was carried out by an external team after I had moved on.
